Sandra Lee Nickerson, 82, of Wheeling, passed away on January 19, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home of Wheeling, WV.
She was born on June 17, 1939 to Louis and Alberta (Howel) LePore in Wheeling, WV.
Sandra worked as a Cook for Ohio County Schools Systems. She loved children and volunteered as the President of the Parent Teacher Association of Washington County Schools.
Music was Sandra’s passion; she was a member of the Thursday’s Music Club. She was also a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Carmel Nickerson, daughter, Brenda Lee Bartlett, great-granddaughter, Emily Lynn Skrzypek, and sister, Lois Nickerson.
Sandra is survived by her husband Harland Nickerson, of 64 years, to whom she married on June 21, 1958, four sons: Bill Nickerson of Wheeling, WV, Jimmy (Michelle) Nickerson of Brandon, FL, Jay (Cary) Nickerson of Brandon, FL; two daughters: Penny Nickerson of Dresden, OH, Cyndee Hennessey of Wheeling, WV, two brothers: James (Nancy) LePore of Colonial Heights, VA, Frank LePore of Richmond, VA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home 1400 Eoff Street Wheeling, WV 26003 on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Shaffer officiating.

We were saddened to read of Sandy’s passing. You all have our deepest condolences. Sandy was such an integral part of of St. James and later St. Mark. Sunday school and VBS and the choir. You are in our prayers.
