On January 20, 2022, Shirley Ann DeBeni went home to be with our lord.

She was born April 9, 1933 in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Jacovetty) Davis.

Shirley was a catholic by faith and a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, where she performed many duties. She was a reader, greeter, and a member of the choir. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1951 and was a lifetime PTA member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Derrick DeBeni and brother Joseph Davis.

Surviving are her husband, Charles DeBeni, to whom she married on August 21, 1953, four sons: Joseph P. (Kay) DeBeni of Wheeling, WV, James (Kay) DeBeni of Wheeling, WV, Rick (Khelli) DeBeni of Bridgeport, OH , Chris (Jackie) DeBeni of Indio, California daughter, Clara (Charles) Weed of Wheeling, WV, brother, Patrick Davis, grandchildren: Craig (Christina) DeBeni of Dayton, OH, Torrie (Bailey) Davis of Benwood, WV, Lauren DeBeni of Wheeling, WV, Heidi Combs and Audra Tyrell of Flushing, OH, Josh (Kevin) Campbeni of Wilmington, NC; great-grandchildren: Jenica, Derrick, Jaxon and Dominic DeBeni, Logan Davis, Lily Caprita, Katie and TJ Neer, and Caylee Sisarcick.

Family and friends will be received at Altmeyer Funeral Homes 1400 Eoff Street on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and then again from 6:00 until time of vigil service at 8:00 pm with Father Sateesh Narasetti as celebrant.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Joseph – Wheeling, WV on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 10:00 am with Father Sateesh Narasetti as celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice and to The Cathedral of St. Joseph at TMCFunding.com

So sorry I missed her service. Shirley always treated me like family. She was a part of my childhood, and a part of everyone else’s childhood who grew up in the neighborhood.

Sorry to read about Shirley. We played together when I visited my grandparents who live across the street from Shirley and her parents when we were young. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
