SEAMON, Shirley Ann, 91, of Wheeling died Thursday, March 31, 2022 peacefully at home.
She was born on April 7, 1930 in Woodsfield, OH the daughter of the late George and Lillian Brubauch Calvert.
Shirley was a graduate of Woodsfield High School and Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse from Wheeling Hospital where she worked for approximately 38 years from 1950 to 1988. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elm Grove for approximately 65 years. She volunteered for many parishioner services at both the church and school throughout the many years. She also enjoyed attending Wheeling Hospital events for retired employees.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Don Louis Seamon, who passed away in 2008.
She is survived by her eight loving children: Samuel L. Seamon of Wheeling, Sharon L. Bober and her husband Ambrose of Wheeling, Theresa M. (Tarey) Bernhard and her husband William (Bernie) of Racine, WI, Jody A. Contraguerro and her husband Robert of Wheeling, Don C. Seamon and his wife Kathleen of St. Clairsville, OH, Dennis M. Seamon and his wife Doreen of Belle Vernon, PA, Thomas J. Seamon and his wife Beth of Oakdale, PA, and Timothy S. Seamon and his wife Lori of McDonald, PA.
She is survived by her nineteen loving grandchildren: Lisa (Joe) Miehle, Robert (Kim) Contraguerro, Chad Bernhard, Alicia (Brady) Himmelrick, Stacy (Jamie) Bordas, Kinsey (Mike) Leonard, Thomas (April) Contraguerro, Kiley (Craig) Vander Wyst, Alanna (Joey) Bellanca, Zachary (Kristin) Seamon, Josh (Lindsey) Contraguerro, Christina (Chad) Brandon, Kara Seamon, Terese Seamon, Cassidy Seamon, Kyle Seamon, Cole Seamon, Ashley Seamon, and Sean Seamon.
She is also survived by her twenty-seven loving great grandchildren and a brother, William Calvert, of Woodsfield, OH.
The family would like to give special thanks to her home health aides: Tisah, Sydney, Donnae, Ava, Devin, J.D., Katina, Ivy, and Marjorie. They would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice and Dr. James Comerci, her primary care physician, as well as, Sister Mary Alice.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 2pm – 7:30pm where a vigil service will be held at 7:30pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 10am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elm Grove. Entombment will be held in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
