I was saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. He was a longtime friend who will certainly be missed by all who knew him.
Cousin Steven was one of the more cerebral people I had the privilege of growing up with and he had a dry sense of humor and funny little laugh. He was very kind to me when I moved to Morgantown in High School and was one of the best story tellers I know. He will be missed. Rest well my cousin.
Stephen was one of a select few professionals you’d want if you were in serious criminal trouble; great sense of humor and a great grin, too.
Terry Gurley and I were working a case when I was as a paralegal just out of college. I recall that Terry was not particularly impressed with the original opposing attorney. Then, Steve Herndon walked into the courtroom and Terry said to me “now there’s a formidable opponent.” Steve was a formidable opponent and a good friend. I will miss him!
My thoughts and prayers are with Steve’s family, his daughter Rebecca, brother Scott and
sister Beth. Rest In Peace Steve..
My first job as a lawyer was with the Ohio County Public Defender’s Office in 1990. Steve was did not work for the PD’s office but he was one of the defense lawyers in Wheeling who would take time to give me advice and offer help. He was a great lawyer and I am so sorry to hear this news.
My sincere and deepest condolences to the family and fellow associates of Steve. Denny Albaugh
