Kovalchie, Walter “Harpo” 88, of South Wheeling, died Thursday, January 5th at home.
Walter was a graduate of Wheeling High School class of 1952.
He was retired from the United States Postal Service; a Veteran of the U S Navy; a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, South Wheeling.
He is preceded by his loving wife of 37 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Jean Fekete, step-son, Joseph Baranski; parents, John and Eva Kovalchie, brother’s, John and Michael and sister’s Mary, Anna, Katherine, and Helen.
Surviving are his sister, Rosella George of Wheeling; step- daughter, Melissa (Matt) Schrebe of Wheeling; step-son, Craig (Nancy) Baranski of Wheeling; six step-grandchildren, Matthew (Jorden) , Ryan(Michael) Marissa and Courtney Schrebe, and Mitchell and Abigail Baranski; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including, Becky and Don Cox and Susan George.
A viewing and the services will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 10am-11am to be followed by a 11:00am a mass with Father Charron as celebrant.
Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Walter and I worked together at the Wheeling Post Office in the late 70s, 80s, and early 90s. He was one of the best! We had a lot of great times working together with our fellow carriers and co-workers. R.I.P. “Wawa”!
