Atwell, Willard Lee, 80, of Moundsville, died Saturday, February 3, 2018, at home.

He was born August 30, 1937, in Wheeling, the son of the late Edwin and Delphia Schrader Atwell.

Willard was a retired custodian for the Marshall County Schools and First Christian Church, Moundsville, a U.S. Army veteran and a Catholic by faith.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Coffield: a brother Edward Atwell; and a grandson, Stephen Berardi Jr.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Beulah Jean “Candy” Yoho Atwell, his children, Cathy Atwell Berardi (Steve Sr.) of Glen Easton, WV; Will Atwell II of Bridgeport, OH; Nicholas Atwell of Moundsville: and Amanda Atwell Thomas (Christopher) of Moundsville; a brother, James Atwell of  Wheeling; two sisters, JoAnn Anderson of Neffs, OH; and Erma Sawyer of Michigan; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes and Kirby Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, WV., where services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 11 am with Rev. Keith Forkey officiating.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
