Wayne Bero

Funeral Assistant

Wayne joined Altmeyer Funeral Homes as a part time Funeral Assistant and Attendant in May 2003.

Wayne is retired from Lucent Technologies (At&T) with 39 years of service. This job involved traveling across the US upgrading the central office equipment and installing microwave towers and fiber optic cable. He spent eight years in NYC, with stints in Chicago, IL at Bell Labs. The last eleven years his assignment was in downtown Pittsburgh, PA at AT&T.

As a young man, Wayne served in the US Navy aboard the USS Independence for four years at sea. His discharge time was extended due to the US Cuban blockade.

Wayne is a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, and CAVE Club. He currently serves as a member on the Glen Dale City Council and is on the water board. In addition, he is an active member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in the same town.

For over forty-seven years, Glen Dale, WV has been home to Wayne and his wife, Linda. They have one daughter, Kimberly Bero Rennick, son-in-law Alexander and granddaughters Phoebe and Sydney, in Alexandria, VA.

Hobbies include, antique car collecting/restoration in past years. Plus, Notre Dame football. With much delight, Wayne, volunteered for 13 seasons as a ND Stadium Usher.
